Description
Color photograph of a bas-relief panel depicting a single Greek figure with one arm raised, set against a red brick wall. The photograph shows a single panel from "The Dance of the Muses," a work by sculptor Carole Hanson created in 1990 at Wells High School, Wells, Maine. This cast stone and Portland cement panel features a Greek dancer, dressed in layered, flowing robes, with one arm gracefully extended upward and the other held to the side, emphasizing the sense of movement. The dancer wears a headpiece and is positioned on a textured background mounted onto a brick wall. The artwork is part of a series of four panels, each showing a different dance posture in classical Greek style. 1993. Unidentified photographer. (See p16918-p16923)(NA4800.)
