Description
Color photograph of a stone sculpture carved with an relief carving of a bird, set outdoors on grass. The image shows one of "The Stones of Oakland," a 1993 sculpture by Carole Hanson located at Messalonskee High School in Oakland, Maine. Crafted from Maine bluestone, the stone displayed here features a relief design depicting a stylized Eagle with extended wings, deeply carved into its surface. The stone lies flat on the ground nestled in a grassy area, and the detailed carving emphasizes both the Eagle's outline and some feather details. There are two stones in the installation, each bearing relief carvings, although only one is visible in the photograph. 1994. Unidentified photographer. (See p16924-p16937, p16948-p16952)(NA4800.)
