Description
Black and white group photograph of Joseph (Jose) Emery Smart's woods crew taken by Jose Smart in 1908. Fifteen men pose with their axes, peaveys and horse teams. The wooden bucket and bundle of tin cups on the ground in front of the crew indicates the crew is breaking for lunch. The sunny scene is in a snowy clearing near a stand of white birch. Seven men, dressed in winter clothing, are seated on a log. The remaining eight men and four horses stand behind. Blue ballpoint pen written on the front of the image reads: "Jose Smart's Crew 1908." Seboeis, Maine. See NAFOH 2462.
