Description
Chocolate or brown photographic print of Joseph Emery Smart, Jr. standing atop a log being twitched out of the woods on a sled with a single horse. Jack McDonald stands beside the log, leaning on a double-headed axe. The draft horse is dark in color and has a long mane. Its tail is tied up. Joseph Emery Smart, Jr. stands on top of the log, holding the reins to drive the horse. He's dressed in dark winter clothing and wears mittens. McDonald is similarly dressed in winter pants, boots, and a light-colored sweater. There is a clearing around the logging path and a heavy blanket of snow over the whole landscape. Inked lettering on the front of the photo reads: "Jose Smart 1906," with the "J" in Jose written backwards. 1906. See NA2462.
