Description
Black and white finish line photo of bay gelding Don Vernon winning the first of three straight heats in the 2.17 Trot and Pace at the Oxford County Fair, South Paris, Maine, 1933. Don Vernon was driven by owner/driver C. L. Stevens Finishing second in the heat, according to Guy Kendall's notes, is Katherine C., Chappelle up; followed by Del Volo driven by G. W. Gerow in third. Klata Direct--misidentified as "Clato Direct" on the score card--finished fourth, driven by Foye. The final horse in the field is Jessie Napoleon in finishing in fifth place in the first heat. All horses and drivers are pictured here, right to left, in the order of finish.
