Abstract/ Summary

Joanne Palombo, 27, was named head women’s basketball coach at the University of Maine on June 18 by Michael Ploszek, Director of Athletics. Palombo, who is the fourth head coach in the program’s 17-year history, succeeds Trish Roberts, who resigned earlier this year to accept the head coaching position at the University of Michigan.

A native of Brunswick, and the state of Maine’s first Parade Magazine girl’s basketball All-American in 1983, Palombo returns to her home state with high hopes for the future of Black Bear women’s basketball.
