Abstract/ Summary
This program records the Seniors’ Last Chapel Exercises held on June 11, 1953, at Washington State Teachers College in Machias, Maine, now the University of Maine at Machias. The event took place in Powers Hall Auditorium and featured a ceremonial farewell by the graduating class. The program included musical selections by the college band and Glee Clubs, hymns, scripture readings, the planting of the ivy, and the presentation of class gifts and a class picture. Class officers and speakers included Class President Adelbert Ackley Roberts, Lionel LeRoy Alley, and others. This document offers a glimpse into mid-20th-century collegiate traditions and community life at a rural Maine teachers college.
