Description
An image scanned from a black and white photograph with a handwritten caption that appears to read, "Henry Wilson Merrill, botanist and black-smith of the Saco Valley, Hiram, Maine. Born in Natick, Mass., Jan. 28, 1858... nationally known as authority on ferns." Several news clippings accompany the photograph and report that a wild flower garden in Hiram would be dedicated in his honor, to be known as the Henry W. Merrill Botanical Garden.
