Description
Black and white photograph of seven soft sculptures in the art installation "Scarecrows," by Ann Vassie of Monticello, Maine, ca. 1995. The overall composition involves approximately 28 sculptures with painted faces sitting closely together on a series of benches. Costumes worn by the scarecrows vary from shirts and pants to suits or skirts. Some sculptures wear hats. Each scarecrow has a painted face attached to its stuffed head. The legs of the sculptures dangle behind long grass left behind by the lawnmower. The installation follows the exterior fence line surrounding a large garden. Dense trees line the property in the background, completing the rural scene. Undated. Paul Faria, photographer. (See p17125-p17139)(NA4800.)
