Description
Color photograph of a colorful outdoor metal sculpture composed of four tall, geometric posts supporting an arrangement of abstract shapes, standing on a grassy area in front of a brick school building. “Doric Evolution,” by Melita Brecher, 1989, is a polychrome metal sculpture mounted on concrete foundations. The sculpture consists of four slender, faceted posts arranged in a rough rectangle, each painted a different solid color and topped with simple geometric elements. The posts support a horizontal framework of intersecting bars, triangles, circles, and arches that form an abstract, gate-like structure, positioned on a neatly mowed lawn in front of a low, rectangular brick building with several dark-framed windows. Small shrubs line the base of the building, and a light, overcast sky appears above the roofline. Located at Biddeford Middle School, Biddeford, Maine. 1994. Unidentified, photographer. (See p17043-p17044)(NA4800.)
