Description

Color photograph of a large, tilted steel bell-shaped sculpture with a concrete sphere near its base, set on a grassy lawn in front of a white campus building. The photograph shows “Farmington Bell,” a sculpture by Chris Duncan, 1989. The work is comprised of 12 curved, vertical Cor-Ten steel ribs that form the outline of a bell. The bell leans to the left so that the open side faces the viewer, with a smooth concrete sphere on the ground representing the bell clapper. The sculpture stands on a green lawn scattered with fallen autumn leaves, bordered by low shrubs. Behind the artwork is a two-story white building with many rectangular windows, a metal roof, and a central entrance. Located at University of Maine at Farmington, Farmington, Maine. 1994. Unidentified, photographer. (See p17045-p17046)(NA4800.)
