Description
Black and white action photograph of the field of horses approaching the finish of the 2.16 Bar Trot at the Maine State Fair Grounds track in Lewiston, Maine on Wednesday, June 24, 1941. The race marked the opening of the first meeting of the Pine Tree Circuit for 1941. Chestnut stallion Guy Messenger won the heat in a time of 2.16. Chestnut mare Cita Day, Tweedie up, placed in second while bay gelding Derby Hanover, Cameron up showed in third. Bay filly, Ripe Harvest, Mason up, showed in fourth place. The photograph is signed in the lower right corner by photographer Guy Kendall.
