Abstract

The official race program for the Tuesday, September 17, 1940 meeting of the Cumberland Fair Races in West Cumberland, Maine. The program includes the names of race day officials including the Starting Judge Lawrence Haddock; the Judges Dr. H. S. Irish, Howard Small, and Robert Johnson; and Clerk of Course Frederic C. Wilson. Frank R. Witman is listed as Mutuels Director. The program also includes the names of Maine State Racing Commission members Miles B. Mank, chair, William A. Lumb, and Harold O. Pelley. The program cover includes a summary of the field of horses competing in the Daily Double. Inside the program, Guy Kendall recorded the official times and order of finish for each race. Panel five of the program provides pari-mutuel rules from the Maine State Racing Commission.
