Abstract
The creation of the extended play ‘ghosts’ explored the process of writing, producing, and releasing music by someone who had no knowledge of how to do it. The music created in this project was all written about real experiences that the author lived through and wanted to confront by turning them into art. The author discusses the skills gained in the process including learning how to play the banjo, the piano, and how to work musical software to record music, as well as how the endeavor itself helped the author deal with his experiences. This thesis follows the struggle of creativity during the whole process of writing and recording the music, the choices related to creating the most fitting artwork to showcase the songs, and the steps involved in getting the songs and album on streaming platforms.
