The University of Maine Board of Trustees consists of 16 members, 15 of which are appointed by the Governor and approved by the Maine Legislature. The Maine Commissioner of Education serves as a member ex officio. Members are appointed for a five-year term and may be reappointed once. A student member of the Board is appointed for a single two-year term. The full Board of Trustees meets generally meets six times a year.
The Corporate Records series currently only contains meeting minutes from the:
- full Board of Trustees
- standing committees, for example, the Executive Committee, Educational Policy & Research Committee and Finance Committee
- ad hoc committees, for example, Legislative Affairs, Trustee Responsibility and Accountability, and Medical Education Planning
The meeting minutes are sorted primarily by year of meeting and then within the year the minutes are listed in reverse chronological order. The minutes will generally contain a list of attendees, citizen comment, acceptance of minutes, agendas, remarks, reports, actions, information items, and the date of next meeting.
Other corporate records such as by-laws may be added to this series in the future.
