Description

Maine Governor Frederick G. Payne explains his reasons for entering the Republican primary election for United States Senate on February 16, 1952. This meant the race for the nomination included three GOP candidates. The others were the incumbent Senator Owen Brewster and Ralph A. Dyer of Bangor. Radio commentator Phil Johnson also provides a bit of biographical information about Payne.
