Abstract/ Summary

Last season, the University of Maine hockey team found out just how difficult it is to defend a national championship.

Following its near-perfect run to a 42-1-2 record and the school's first national championship in 1993, head coach Shawn Walsh and his Black Bears knew if UMaine was to become the first team to repeat as the nation's best since 1972 it would need solid efforts from many unproven players.
