Abstract/ Summary

The University of Maine women’s basketball team has it all: Experience, speed, smarts, scoring power, solid defense and fan support. The Black Bears will look to put the pieces together as they navigate a challenging schedule and work towards regular and post season championships. Building on an impressive history of success, Maine should continue to be among the national leaders in several categories with an eye on breaking into the Top 25.

The Black Bears are already considered one of the top academic teams in the country. Maine was ranked seventh in the nation by the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association based on the combined grade point averaged of the players. The 1997-98 Black Bears will seek to surpass their predecessors and bring the team to new heights on and off the court.
