Abstract/ Summary

Second-year head coach Trish Roberts returns all five starters from a team that posted a 19-8 overall record, and cruised to the regular-season Seaboard Conference title. Roberts continued the winning tradition of one of the most successful women’s basketball programs in the East. Over the past five years, the Black Bears have compiled a 106-37 record.

After finishing the regular season with a 13-1 conference record, Maine dropped a 60-47 contest to Northeastern in the Seaboard Conference Tournament. It was the fourth time in the past five years that the Black Bears have fallen to the Huskies in post-season play.

With eight players returning, six of whom appeared in the starting line up in the 1988-89 season, and a promising recruiting class, Roberts' sights are on the elusive postseason championship, and an NCAA tournament bid.
