Abstract/ Summary

Rudy Keeling begins his second season with the Black Bears hoping his recruiting efforts will establish a foundation on which to build a successful basketball program at Maine. Last season, Keeling brought in three freshmen, each of whom conributed significantly at different times during the season. This season, Keeling welcomes five newcomers, expected to shore up some of the difficiencies from a 9-19 mark of last season. In addition to the five promising newcomers, Keeling returns eight veterans. Eight of the 13 players on the pre-season roster are athletes recruited by Keeling and his staff since arriving in Orono prior to the 1988-89 season. With the loss of only one starter (Matt Rossignol) to graduation, the Black Bears return a solid team.
