Abstract/ Summary

The history of basketball at Maine is unique. While it includes the accomplishments of a number of outstanding teams and several brilliant players, it also shows that the University dropped the sport from its intercollegiate program on two occasions due to a lack of proper playing facilities. But those days are behind now as the game has become one of the most popular indoor sports played at Maine with sellout crowds in view at almost every home game.
