Bylaws of Phi Kappa Phi. Established at the University of Maine in 1897, The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is a nationally recognized, nonprofit organization dedicated to the recognition and promotion of academic excellence and integrity in all fields of higher education. As the founding institution, the University of Maine hosts Chapter 1 – an exclusive honor. Phi Kappa Phi chapters are now found on more than 300 university and college campuses throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. With more than one million members worldwide and hundreds of chapters located on university and college campuses, Phi Kappa Phi is one of the oldest, most widely recognized, and most respected academic honor societies.
