Abstract/ Summary

Although 2020 has unfolded in ways none of us anticipated, we have been looking forward to June 30, 2020 for some time now. The date marks the completion of the University of Maine’s Vision for Tomorrow comprehensive campaign. With over $208 million in funds raised, we are happy to report that the $200 million goal was exceeded. This investment in UMaine comes at a time when it is needed most. Transforming and adapting for a future which is still unfolding is a task which requires resources.

The full impact of this campaign will be revealed for years to come. Every single one of the 104,763 gifts is threaded back to raising aspirations and creating opportunities for UMaine students. One way is through the students who are able to continue their studies as a result of new scholarships. Another is through students who take their UMaine education along with the lessons in fortitude acquired during this pandemic to make the world a better place.

The list goes on. In 2022, the Ferland Engineering Education and Design Center will open its doors to welcome students with active learning classrooms and laboratories to prepare them for cutting-edge careers in engineering. More world-class works of art will be accessible from the new galleries at the Zillman Art Museum. The next Maine-rooted astronaut may be inspired by a show at the Versant Power Astronomy Center. The sky is the limit!
