General University of Maine Publications
Maine Perspective
Abstract/ Summary
The Maine Perspective, a publication for the University of Maine, was a campus newsletter produced by the Department of Public Affairs which eventually transformed into the Division of Marketing and Communication. Regular features include listings of newly released titles by UMaine authors, "Look Who's On Campus," an opinion column entitled "Viewpoint," and Classified Ads. Included in this issue are articles covering the Maine Agricultural Experiment Station's record of receiving grant rewards, the arrival of Gary Hunt as Libra Professor of Regional Economics, and research into the use of fish oil extracted from pogies as a non-toxic substitute for petroleum-based hydraulic systems on fishing vessels and seafood processing plants.
