Description
A scan of an illustration of a "truly original machine," the Velocipede or Draisena," from Volume 13 of Analectic Magazine published in Philadelphia in 1819. The text of the article explains, "It consists of two wheels, one behind the other, connected by a perch, on which a saddle is placed, for the seat of the traveller."
