A black and white photograph of Halls Mills near Whiting, Maine. A handwritten note on the back reads, "Return to Austin Hall, East Machias." A circa 1935 newspaper clipping saved in the collection reads, "here is the old saw mill, erected in 1812 and reputedly the oldest mill of its type in the United States." The date of this particular photograph is not indicated.
