An image scanned from a black and white photograph saved by Fannie Hardy Eckstorm. Her handwritten caption for the photograph reads, "Big Sebattis Mitchell - taken 1891, 'Lugging Boat' and 'Joyfully,'" referring to stories within her book Penobscot Man where Mitchell is prominently featured.
