An image scanned from a black and white photograph with a handwritten caption that reads, "Nest and Eggs of American Herring Gull."

Saved within a small collection of images of bird nests taken around 1905. This print has been stamped with the name of the photographer on the mat: Ora W. Knight, of Bangor, Maine. Knight was a member of the University of Maine Class of 1895, worked as an assistant at the Maine Experiment Station, and according to his obituary printed in the Bangor Daily Commercial Nov. 12, 1913, gained a national reputation as a chemist, geologists, and ornithologist.
