Description
A black and white photograph from the papers of Mary E. Dawson, a dancer born in Philadelphia who became known in the entertainment world as Mademoiselle Fifi. Dawson is standing in a fur coat next to a poster that reads, "Jack Lamont and His Pretty Babies... The Original Fifi From Paris, International Shimmy Dancer." A handwritten note on the back notes that Dawson could not remember exactly where or when this would have been taken, but "It must have been in the 'Shimmy Era.'"
