Jitney - as mentioned in Katahdin Iron Works Revisted, compiled by William Sawtelle, Milo Printing Company, 1983, DownEast article by Isabel Currier - part of summary, p. 12... Mrs. Green had to turn to the woods for a livelihood...She had the bright idea of buying a station wagon and having it flanged with wheels to run on the eleven miles of tracks between Brownville Junction and K.I."
