Description
This scan from a black and white photograph in the Hamlin family papers features the second wife of Hannibal Hamlin, Ellen Vesta Emery Hamlin. They were married in 1856 after the death of Hamlin's first wife, Sarah Jane Emery Hamlin. Together, they had two children, Hannibal E. and Frank Hamlin. Ellen Hamlin died in 1925.
Handwriting on the back of the photograph reads, "Ellen V. Hamlin, to be returned to Chas. Hamlin, Bangor."
The photo is not dated. Taken by C. M. Bell, photographer, Penn Avenue, Washington, D.C.
