Description
A photograph from the Hamlin family papers of Ellen Emery Hamlin with Louise Hamlin. The marble bust in the background of the photograph is of Hannibal Hamlin, Vice President of the United States, 1860-1864, Ambassador to Spain, and United States Senator.
A bronze version of that same bust was donated to the University of Maine Fogler Library Special Collections Department. Department records indicate that the artist was Franklin Simmons, created in 1889, and cast in Rome by Nelli.
Ellen Hamlin died in 1925.
