Description

An image scanned from a color postcard depicting Smith's Pavilion in Crescent Beach, Maine. Undated.

Smith's Pavilion was constructed in 1895 by local fish dealer and farmer Fred Smith as a dancing hall. It swiftly became popular, and Smith expanded the building to include a large dining room and kitchen. Smith's operations would grow into the Crescent Beach Inn, which included a boarding house, cottages, and a pier for steamboat landings.
