Abstract/ Summary
Photograph of Beryl Warner Williams at the 1972 University of Maine commencement ceremony where Williams was awarded a honorary Doctorate of Pedagogy. Williams, a Bangor native attended UMaine in the 1930s. She was the first Black person to earn a bachelor’s degree in mathematics at the University in 1935. She went on to earn a master’s degree in mathematics from UMaine in 1940.
In May 2021, University of Maine System Board of Trustees approved renaming Little Hall to Beryl Warner Williams Hall.
