Description
Peter G. Vigue graduated with the Maine Maritime Academy Class of 1969, in Castine. He worked a short time in the merchant marines but found his true calling in the construction business joining Cianbro Corporation of Pittsfield, Maine as a laborer in 1970 and began to climb the ranks. In 1991, he was appointed President of Cianbro Corporation. He later assumed the position of Chair of Cianbro Corp.
Under Vigue’s leadership, Cianbro received numerous awards recognizing the company’s efforts in safety and employee wellness, a high rate of productivity, and exceptional quality. Faced with growing competition in the construction industry, Vigue led Cianbro’s transition into a multi-tasking organization built on an increasing diversity of engineering and technical skills. Operating in over 40 U.S. states, the 100-percent employee-owned company employs over 4,000 people and engages in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, telecommunications, thermal, fabricating, and coating engineering.
Vigue began his association with the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation in 1978 as Assistant Treasurer. He became President in 2003 and Chair in 2005. In addition to the Pulp & Paper Foundation 2007 Honor Award, Vigue was honored in 2009 by the Maine Business School as one of Maine’s top business advocates.
