Description

William S. Lucey was born on May 17, 1932. He was educated in Portland, Maine and graduated from Chevrus High School. A U.S. Army Veteran, Lucey graduated from the University of Maine in 1961 with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Following his graduation, Lucey joined Beloit Corporation, starting in manufacturing before moving on to become a sales representative in 1967. Successively, he became Regional Sales Manager, Marketing Manager, Vice President Pulp and Paper Sales/Beloit Canada, and Vice President Paper Machine Group, Vice President, and General Sales Manager.

Lucey was active in the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation as a member of the Curriculum and Summer Institute committees serving as Chair of the Summer Institute Committee. Lucey distinguished himself in the design and solicitation of equipment for the pilot paper machine in the pilot plant addition to Jenness Hall.
