New England Journal of Political Science
About This Journal
The New England Journal of Political Science is published by the New England Political Science Association. Beginning in 2022, the journal is published annually in the Fall. Prior to 2022, the journal published two issues per year. The New England Journal of Political Science aims to publish high quality original research in all four of the major subfields of political science (American politics, comparative politics, international relations, and political theory), along with brief reports on the politics of the six New England states. Some issues may contain additional material such as book reviews.
Submissions/Eligibility for Publication
The New England Journal of Political Science uses a proceedings model for content. In practical terms, this means that each new issue will be comprised of papers presented at that year’s Annual Meeting of the New England Political Science Association (NEPSA). Papers presented at the Annual Meeting are eligible for publication as follows. First, papers receiving one of NEPSA’s three awards—the John Donovan Prize for Best Paper by a Faculty Member, the Robert Wood Prize for Best Paper by a Graduate Student, and the Wilson Carey McWilliams Prize for Best Paper by an Undergraduate Student—will automatically be offered the opportunity for publication. Second, all other papers presented at the annual meeting are eligible to be nominated for publication by the Section Chair that organized and oversaw their panel. We certainly encourage Section Chairs to take this opportunity to recognize quality scholarship. Paper authors can also discuss nomination of their paper with their Section Chair. Papers nominated by Section Chairs will be subject to peer review and are not guaranteed publication. Third, all presenters in the New England Politics Roundtable Panel are offered the opportunity to submit a version of their paper for the State Reports section of the journal. Fourth, the Editor-in-Chief and/or a Special Issue Editor may solicit submissions outside of the normal channels.
