Description
Black and white photograph of nine unidentified men seated around tables and having a meal in the cook room. In the foreground is a neat wood stove. Two cast iron pots sit on top of the stove and a large metal coffee pot on the front. The men are seated around tables that are covered with oil cloths and are set with metal dishes. None of the men are eating so the meal may be over or yet to begin. Though largely unbathed, most of the men appear to have cleaned up and brushed their hair prior to sitting down to the meal. A kerosene lamp hangs from the rafters and light is coming in through a window, circa 1880-1920. See also p00105. Donated by Sarah “Sadie” Augusta French Lee, aka Mrs. Lyman K. Lee of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine.
