Black and white tin type photograph of Carrie M. (Royal) Smart (left) and Joseph Emery Smart, Jr. (right). The couple married on July 18, 1897 and traveled to South Portland on their wedding trip, having their formal wedding portrait taken. Carrie stands while Joseph, a photographer, is seated holding his own camera in his lap. Carrie wears a dark, wide-brimmed straw hat, light-colored blouse, and dark-colored skirt. Joseph wears a straw skimmer hat, dark three-piece suit and white shirt. He has a full mustache. The tin type is shown inside a yellow mount with red graphics. 1897, South Portland, Maine.
