Description
Brown-tone portrait of Carrie M. Royal (1871-1899) and her sister Bessie M. Royal (1875-n.d.) . Carrie, standing on the left, married Joseph Emery Smart in 1897. Carrie is the taller of the two sisters, wearing a dark-colored dress and a dark-colored choker necklace. She wears her hair up with a fluffy pouf of curls over her forehead. Bessie Royal stands on the right with a matching hair style. She wears a dark-colored dress and a light colored scarf tied around her throat. circa 1890s. See NA2462.
