The photograph captures the look of concern and empathy on the face of a nurse cradling the body of a wounded male soldier who eyes are covered with a bandage. A spray of red, white, and yellow roses is laid on the soldier's chest. The Vietnam Women's Memorial was dedicated on Veteran's Day, 1993.
