Abstract/ Summary
This report documents suspected and confirmed fatal and nonfatal drug overdoses in Maine during August 2025 as well as for the period January 2024–August 2025. The total number of confirmed and suspected fatal overdoses during 2025 is 263, 23.8% lower than the total confirmed fatal overdoses for January–August 2024, 345. The total number of nonfatal overdoses during January–August 2025 is 4,854, 14.6% lower than the total reported nonfatal overdoses for January–August 2024, 5,685. Monthly proportions of 2025 fatalities from January to August averaged 5.1%, slightly lower than the 5.7% in 2024 and the 6.1% in 2023. Monthly proportions in 2025 ranged from a high of 6.3% in August to a low of 4.1% in May.
