Abstract/ Summary
This report documents suspected and confirmed fatal and nonfatal drug overdoses in Maine during August 2023 as well as for the period January 2022–August 2023 (Table 1). During August 2023, the proportion of fatal overdoses averaged 5.8% of total overdoses. Monthly proportions of 2023 fatalities have fluctuated from a low of 4.1% in March to a high of 8.1% in April. During the period January–August 2023, fatal overdoses constituted 6.1% of all overdoses, lower than the 6.9% for the year in 2022. The total of confirmed and suspected fatal overdoses January–
