Information prepared by the National Park Service explaining their proposal to set aside most of the river course and tributary lakes as the Allagash National Recreation Area. The proposed area comprised 246,000 acres of forest land, 63 lakes and 360 miles of river and tributary streams, a total area of 296,500 acres.
