Description
Black and white finish line photo of Walter Stone winning the first heat of the 2.12 Class Pace at the Bay State Circuit at Sage Park, Windsor, Connecticut on July 1, 1931. Darkey Grattan placed second with Fanny C., a half-sister to Walter Stone. finishing in third.
Note the Ford truck marked "Radio" visible in the background, parked between the judges stand and grandstand. Two large, horn speakers are visible mounted on the roof of the truck with a wire running to the judges stand marking the truck as the first race track public address announcement system captured on film by Guy Kendall.
