Description

Black and white action photograph of the first three finishers of the second heat of the 2.17 Bar Pace at the Cornish Fairgrounds, Cornish, Maine on Friday, September 27, 1940. After finishing in third place in the first heat of the 2.17 Bar Pace, bay gelding Peter Simmons, wearing head number one, Smith up, came back to claim the win in the second heat. Cassa Viola wearing head number nine, Chappell up placed and Dusky Dawn wearing head number seven, Safford up, showed. The photograph is signed in the lower right corner by photographer Guy Kendall.
