Caruso took a first place win in three heats setting a track record time of 2.09 1/2 at Franklin County Agricultural Society Cattle Show and Fair, Farmington, Maine, Sept. 22, 1927. Chappelle and Caruso went on to win a $1000 purse in Brockton, Massachusetts on Oct. 8, 1927 (Lewiston Daily Sun, Oct. 8, 1927).
