Black and white action photo of bay gelding, Governor Alex wearing head number four, crossing the finish of the first heat of the 2.14 Bar Trot on Thursday, October 13, 1938 at Topsham Fair in Topsham, Maine. Governor Alex finished ahead of bay gelding, Sunfire wearing head number nine, Fitzgerald up. Visible on the far left of the photograph is the third place finisher, bay gelding Harry Dillon, Crossman up. In the background it is possible to see race day officers on the judge's stand and the Voice of Maine support vehicle for the public address system.
