Black and white photograph of bay mare, pacer Symbol Lucy (front, left) wearing head number one, Phillips up, wins the second heat of the Classified Pace at the Oxford County Agricultural Society races, Wednesday, September 15, 1937 in South Paris, Maine. Black gelding, Roy Directum (front, right) wearing head number two, Tuttle up, placed in second. Expressive Guy, Jordan up, showed in third and Gay Direct crossed the line in fourth place. The image captures the crowd along the fence as well as the large expanse of vehicles parked on the fair grounds. The photograph is signed in the lower right corner by Guy Kendall.
