Abstract
The official race program for the Tuesday, Sept. 12, 1939 Oxford County Agricultural Society harness races in South Paris, Maine. The cover of the program includes the names of race day officials as well as a summary of the field of horses participating in the first and second halves of the Daily Double. The Maine State Racing Commission pari-mutuel rules are printed on the final page of the program. The program include Guy Kendall's handwritten notes on changes in race line ups, finish times, and order.
The program also advertises, "Butler Head Numbers Used Here." Butler Head Numbers were conceived by Jim Butler, of Lewiston, Maine, who started in the harness racing industry as a timekeeper and water boy at the Bangor race track in the 1890s.
